Welcome! to XFC, Elite Player Development, Highland, Nova Scotia
HAND PICKED by XFC Coaching Staff
HOMEWORK HOMEWORK - DID YOU WORK YOUR FEET TODAY?
Where to now for XFC?
Players and parents, as we near the end of the winter development program and the start of the summer season we, at XFC, wanted to talk about a few things that are dear to our hearts and we hope yours.
A lot of work has gone in to developing XFC this far. There has been countless hours behind the scenes, planning, organizing, meeting, preparing and caring about developing a good club with the right attributes that can develop YOU, the player, to best of your ability. Then on the field, the coaches have also made great efforts to provide a quality program this winter, one that helps to give you the tools to play at the next level, to help YOU strive to meet your goals. We cannot stress how much time and effort has gone into developing our on field program. When we run good programs, the individual players benefit and we have seen this with so many improvements this winter in all of you. Then we need to factor in the support from donors who have contributed money, time and advice to ensure we can make XFC happen. In effect it has been a challenging undertaking to get the club this far, but we are here, we are alive and kicking and that’s credit to all of you.
As the summer season approaches one of the key areas to ensure your development as a player is to continue to strive to play at the highest level against the best competition in the province, this is the only way you will get better. Playing at a lower level where your team is ‘walking all over’ other teams in the league will not teach you how to the play the game. If you are serious about soccer, about really wanting to get better, then play in the Tier 1 league, this is the most challenging route, but the most important thing, your development, will continue on track with this kind of competition and good coaching.
Over the past years the previous Tier 1 club in Highland, the Highland Knights , found it difficult to field teams during the summer for some age groups after the winter program. The reason was many players went back to play Tier 2. The staff at XFC want to stress that if our current players that make up our winter development program feel that playing at a lower level is the route to take then XFC will cease to exist in those age groups. XFC wants to provide a serious program for serious athletes, we can do this only with commitment to your game through quality XFC programs and competition that enables you to get better.
Lastly, like many volunteer organizations the line between a successful, thriving club and a club that fails is razor thin sometimes. We can’t pull players out of thin air and if we don’t have our winter players staying with XFC, we wont have a club, no matter how hard we try. Thanks

Why we train in Stellarton, Truro and Antigonish.
The Highland Region, of which XFC is a part, is a huge area. Our players and affiliate clubs are scattered throughout. XFC’s main mandate is to build a serious club with its total focus being the development of the individual player. In order to do this we have to make our programs reach out to as many players as we can within the region. We can only do this by training in different locations. In effect this approach gives more opportunities to more players to get involved in our programs.
Today was a big day
It's not often a new club is formed in our region. Today was a special day, the handing out of the XFC training shirts. It symbolises a beginning, a fresh start for soccer development in Highland, where the player always comes first, where the hard work begins and everyone pulls together as a club to begin to build our reputation for hard work and excellence in developing the individual player, not just on the field but off. Wear your XFC shirt with pride, congratulations, you are the first to wear the shirt and we hope many follow you and the example you set for them.
XFC SENIOR B MEN AND WOMEN
XFC are interested in forming both Senior B men and Senior B women teams out of our region to be known at the XFC Reserves, this is in addition to Senior A teams. Any player U18 or above interested should contact XFC asap. Fee's TBC.
FUTSAL Referee Session
There will be a second futsal referee session Jan 31st at 5pm to 830pm at the Stellarton facility for anyone wishing to take the referee information class. Please be at the facility for 5pm. This is put on by Graham Kennedy for those who wish to referee our futsal games. Referee's are paid $10 per game. Come on out and get involved in the club!
SUMMER XFC NOVA SCOTIA SOCCER LEAGUE TEAMS
After reviewing the web 'sign up' list for those interested in playing in the NSSL this summer the XFC Board has decided to enter the following teams into the Tier 1 NSSL league for the summer of 2012. Any player from any club in these age groups from the Highland Region will be able to tryout for these Tier 1 teams. Coaches have yet to be assigned. To express an interest in coaching please fill out the XFC Coaches form below. Our approach this summer will be in accordance with the CSA's Long Term Player Development plan. Tryouts for these teams will likely be in April.
U14 BOYS
U14 GIRLS
U16 BOYS
U16 GIRLS
SENIOR A MEN - Coache(s) required, must be experienced with Prov. B Licence
SENIOR A WOMEN - Coache(s) required, must be experienced with Prov. B Licence
SENIOR B MEN/WOMEN
Due to the poor turnout of U18 players this winter and the lack of interest on the web sign up sheet we decided that a U18 program for both boys and girls isnt viable this summer. However players who are U18 will have the opportunity to attend tryouts for the senior program A or B.

TRAINING TIMES. As indicated at the start of winter training, the times were tentative. Now we have a good idea of player numbers the training times will be as follows for both Tuesday and Thursday evenings in Stellarton. This is effective Tuesday 22nd November. Please note that game night (Thursdays) may become a one hour session, staff will meet to discuss this at a later date.
U14 BOYS/GIRLS 6.00pm - 7.15pm
U16 BOYS/GIRLS 7.15pm - 8.30pm
U18 BOYS/GIRLS 7.15pm - 8.30pm
IMPORTANT, Summer NSSL Play. As XFC moves ahead we will be required by the Nova Scotia Soccer League to provide them with the teams we are fielding in the summer (U14-Snr). Players - please fill out this form to enable us to get an indication of numbers for each age group. There is a large cost, due in the new year to the NSSL in order to field a team. XFC will make a decision on teams based on the numbers we see from the form one week before the NSSL deadline then we will proceed with tryout and coach assignment. Thank You.
XFC CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT
Every player, parent/guardian and coach will be required to read and sign the XFC Code of Club Conduct. This document will help ensure club programs run in the spirit of the game of soccer. Players selected into the winter training program can view and print this important document here. Coaches will also sign each form. Signed forms will then be kept on file in the club office.
